Privacy Policy

HabibScrapCar ("we", "us", "our") collects unwanted, damaged and end-of-life vehicles for recycling. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy query, contact us at hello@habibscrapcar.co.uk.

When you request a quote or book a collection, we collect:

• Vehicle details: registration number, make, model, year and specification, looked up via the DVSA MOT History API.
• Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
• Collection address: building number, street, city and postcode.
• Bank details: account holder name, bank name, account number and sort code, so we can pay you for your vehicle.

We use the information above only to:

• Look up your vehicle and generate an accurate quote.
• Arrange and carry out collection of your vehicle.
• Pay you for your vehicle by bank transfer.
• Notify the DVLA of the change of vehicle ownership and issue your Certificate of Destruction.
• Contact you about the status of your request.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

Bank account details are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database, and are only ever decrypted by authorised staff to process your payout — never exposed in plain text in logs, backups or third-party analytics.

• DVSA — to look up MOT history and vehicle specification, and to notify a change of keeper.
• Our bank / payment provider — to transfer your payment.
• Our licensed Authorised Treatment Facility — to process and recycle the vehicle.

We do not share your data with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.

We retain records of completed collections for as long as required by DVLA and tax regulations (typically up to 6 years), after which they are securely deleted. If you request a quote but don't proceed, we retain it only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
• Object to or restrict how we use your data.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Our site uses only the cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in to the admin area and to remember your quote as you move between steps. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
